Take the Orange or Blue line train to Fed­eral Cen­ter S.W. which is con­ve­niently located under­neath the Design and Office Cen­ters. Exit onto 3rd Street, turn left onto D and fol­low the side­walk to the Wash­ing­ton Design Cen­ter entrance at 300 D Street.

There is street park­ing avail­able both in front of The Wash­ing­ton Design Cen­ter on D Street, and behind on Vir­ginia Avenue. PLEASE READ the park­ing signs care­fully as there are dif­fer­ent park­ing spots with dif­fer­ent restrictions!

Design Cen­ter Facts

Orig­i­nally built in 1919 as a refrig­er­ated ware­house
The Wash­ing­ton Design Cen­ter is the mid-Atlantic region’s largest sin­gle resource for high-end home fur­nish­ings and décor, offer­ing top indus­try brands, resources and ser­vices for all your home design needs.

In 1982, the build­ing was con­verted to The Wash­ing­ton Design Cen­ter and opened for busi­ness. The Design Cen­ter has 400,000 square feet of space with more than 60 whole­sale res­i­den­tial, com­mer­cial and build­ing prod­ucts show­rooms. More than 60,000 vis­i­tors annually.

To The Trade

The Wash­ing­ton Design Cen­ter is ded­i­cated “To the Trade”

The “Trade” is an indus­try term refer­ring to inte­rior design­ers, archi­tects, dec­o­ra­tors, space plan­ners and design con­sul­tants. While con­sumers are wel­come to browse in many Design Cen­ter show­rooms, other show­rooms are not open to the pub­lic and do require a design pro­fes­sional to accom­pany a client or guest.
