Take the Orange or Blue line train to Federal Center S.W. which is conveniently located underneath the Design and Office Centers. Exit onto 3rd Street, turn left onto D and follow the sidewalk to the Washington Design Center entrance at 300 D Street.
Parking
There is street parking available both in front of The Washington Design Center on D Street, and behind on Virginia Avenue. PLEASE READ the parking signs carefully as there are different parking spots with different restrictions!
Design Center Facts
Originally built in 1919 as a refrigerated warehouse
The Washington Design Center is the mid-Atlantic region’s largest single resource for high-end home furnishings and décor, offering top industry brands, resources and services for all your home design needs.
In 1982, the building was converted to The Washington Design Center and opened for business. The Design Center has 400,000 square feet of space with more than 60 wholesale residential, commercial and building products showrooms. More than 60,000 visitors annually.
To The Trade
The Washington Design Center is dedicated “To the Trade”
The “Trade” is an industry term referring to interior designers, architects, decorators, space planners and design consultants. While consumers are welcome to browse in many Design Center showrooms, other showrooms are not open to the public and do require a design professional to accompany a client or guest.
Become a Registered Buyer
If you will be visiting The Washington Design Center on a regular basis, you will need to complete a Buyer’s Registration Form to obtain a Mart Card.
